If I could give 10 stars I would. New furnace and a/c installed today and I couldn’t be happier. What a great experience from my salesperson, Jake, to my installers: Scott, Daniel, Jonathan and Jamaal. Very professional and willing to work with our schedules to get it done. Very nice installation and they were respectful of our home and cleaned up any messes that might have occurred. Bravo to each and every one of those involved in this project!
Approached at Home Depot for a duct cleaning (at the time of this review, Home Depot contracts locally with Thomas & Galbraith for this). If you are looking for a very serious, robust duct cleaning, they're just simply not able to do it. 3 trucks were here at my house at 1 point. Took 3 hours for a 2 hour appointment to blow some dust around with an air compressor. After this "cleaning" I put my hand down in the vents and pulled various dust, dirt, and other debris out... My ducts are simply not clean. No one mentioned how anemic (pointless) the cleaing would be. No one looked in the vents. Not sure why they bothered. For their service to work, you'd have to have mostly clean, virginal ducts in the first place. I wish they'd described what they did ahead of time (that what they do may not actually clean the ducts which is what I paid for and what the name of the service is: "duct cleaning", not "attempted duct cleaning"). I will have to call someone else or do it myself... Additionally, one of the staff left my air purifier open (part of the hvac system -- connects to the air handler), turned the unit back on, causing various errors / faults. These errors persisted and within a few days, the coils froze -- they quoted me thousands today to repair a coolant leak that didn't exist until the unit had been left open. $500 for dirty ducts and thousands to repair a unit that was fine until they got here... Note: the staff DID look at the thermostat and air handler and no errors were reported at the time of their attempted START of cleaning....None. These errors only developed AFTER the door of the air purifier was left open. 1 of their staff DID verify this while they were here... I have called another company to investigate this and may update this review further. This review may be additionally reposted elsewhere and a BBB report may be filed next. This is a pretty serious problem for me. Right now my unit is down, may have been damaged, and even if repaired, the life expectancy of this (only 1-2yr old, very expensive) system could have been diminished. Hopefully we can stay out of court. Note: I maintained a professional attitude and was friendly at all times with all Thomas & Galbraith staff while they were here. I don't yell at workers. UPDATE 6/7/25: Another company confirmed today that the air purifier (EAC) system wasn't closed properly (it was almost closed -- but not completely). If the EAC is completely open, everything shuts off. If it's partially closed, it may make enough contact to communicate with the system and the system will think everything is okay (when it wasn't). Leaving the door partially open caused the coil to freeze. My unit is now up and running. $100 charge for this. I would never have had this $100 charge if it weren't for the attempted duct cleaning.
Our experience with Thomas and Galbraith has been extremely disappointing. Their crew severed our septic system's electrical line. They did not inform us that an electrical line was cut, and then left the live wire exposed in wet conditions for hours after the crew finished. They claimed they thought the line was abandoned—but it wasn’t. That was a dangerous and unqualified judgment call for them to make, and it resulted in unnecessary costs and safety risks. They also ran over and ripped the gutter downspout after stating they would remove it before starting any digging. They also left part of the excavation site underfilled, creating a low spot for water to pool near our foundation. Two days later, they claimed they left it open for electrical repairs to the cut wire—contradicting their earlier statement that they believed the wire was abandoned. They also never previously mentioned needing to make a second trip to complete the job. Their continuously shifting explanations, poor communication, and disregard for our concerns made this a frustrating and costly experience. Update: They went ahead and fixed the electrical line (even though they weren’t contractually obligated to), along with the gutter and some of the underfilled area. It was a bit strange because they sent the electrician without any notice, and so we were at work when they showed up. This caused some issues because we had to scramble to be able get them in the house. I do appreciate that they made an effort to address some of the issues, but overall, the experience still wasn't great.
I called Thomas and Galbraith about two toilets that seemed to need new tank parts as they had begun running off and on. The plumber came out on July 15, 2025 and did the work. I came home later that day, both toilets were running. Called the Appointment line. Explained the issue. Asked them not to send the same plumber. Asked to have a manager call. Asked for my 7/15 receipt which had not been emailed. Same guy shows up on 7/18. Has to order a part. Comes back on 7/22 puts new part in one toilet, adjusts the other toilet. The adjusted toilets handle was way up against the tank lid and floppy. I voiced my concern before he left. "That's not an issue" he says. Go to work. Come home. The toilet with the new part is running like a waterfall. The other toilet will not flush. Call the appointment line again. Calmly I tell what's happening. Gal says I will get a call from a manager. No call yet. 3 days later. Water shut off to the running toilet. Other toilet needs added water to flush.
I had Thomas & Galbraith out for just cleaning and inspection service. I have had bad issues in the past and was looking for someone new to call. Bret Winchester came out was EXTREMELY nice and very good at explaining everything about my system! The call you in advance and you even get a bio of the person whom is coming to service you for a personal touch! My AC needed a new capacitor so that was replaced at a very reasonable price and I got a plan to get more maintenance every 6 months!!! I can not stress how satisfied I was with this company and with Bret! We talked like we had known each other for years, as he did his work of course!! Now I finally know whom I will call when something is wrong! Well done Thomas and Galbraith. But especially sending Bret to me he was very honest and knew what he was talking about!! I highly recommend their service and highly recommend Bret! He has a great future ahead of him!!! Well done!!!!!!!
