Purpose Plumbing offers plumbing services, including water leak assessments and fixture replacements, with technicians like Nick, but has received criticism for high pricing and poor social etiquette.
Purpose Plumbing is a plumbing company based in Mount Pleasant, SC, providing services such as water leak assessments, fixture replacements, and drain cleaning. Their technicians, including Nick, have been dispatched to various locations, including Dunes West. However, the company has faced criticism for its high pricing, with some customers feeling ripped off. Despite this, the company has shown responsiveness, with same-day or next-day service in some cases.
The company's services include assessing and fixing water leaks, replacing faulty valves, and installing new fixtures. However, the pricing for these services has been a point of contention, with some customers feeling that the costs are excessive. For example, one customer was charged $489 for a 15-minute assessment and repair, while another was quoted $400 for a simple faucet replacement.
This may be a good plumbing company but their social etiquette could use some work. Parked blocking all traffic in a busy plaza because they may have had to walk a little further. They are casually sitting eating with zero regard for others. Just rude.
RIP OFF. Nick arrived to do an assessment of a water leak in the house. I led him to one toilet in question, they determined it needed new fittings inside. The price for what turned out to be 15 minutes of work was $489. I paid this bill, then they came back to me saying the water valve was faulty and wouldn't turn on so that was another $389. Ridiculous charges all based on the location of the property in Dunes West. Total $878 for 25 minutes of hard labor.
If you have extra money to spend, definitely go with this team. The two guys they sent were nice enough, but it was not a two man job. We needed the expansion tank on our hot water tank replaced. We purchased the tank, so it was to be a simple install. They quoted $400 CASH, more if we paid with check or CC. We were surprised by that amount, but with a leak and no water, we felt we had to go with them to get it corrected. They removed the old tank, and there was some build up on the pipe where it met the tank. Rather then simply trying to remove the buildup, they indicated they had to cut the pipe junction and replace it and the cost was now $1000.00 CASH (or more with check or CC). They were here maybe 45 minutes to an hour....$1000???? I checked the old pipes they had removed, after they left, and they were as clean as a whistle, with exception of the end, where I used a screwdriver and removed the buildup. Highway robbery. I get it, plumbers probably are making $50-$75 an hour, and there is labor, materials etc, but $1000.00. Would love to hear what other plumbers would be charging for something like this,
Pretty miserable, waited almost 2 hours for him to show up and found out he wanted to charge me $400 to just remove and replace a kitchen faucet. I’m not a fan of highway robbery. Do not recommend
Thank you for coming the very next day. I could never snake eighty feet so your fee is what it is, however, your quote of $450 to switch out a non leaking drain basket is what stands out. I had hoped to do much more business in the future with you on my rentals (since my thirty year relationship with my previous plumber ended when he, unfortunately, passed away). I would not have mentioned any of this had you not asked. I wish you continued success, but perhaps it's worth considering more reasonable pricing on upselling would lead to much more long term business.
The cost of a water leak assessment from Purpose Plumbing can vary, but one customer was charged $489 for a 15-minute assessment and repair.
