First Choice Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical

I had technicians from First Choice at my house twice this week, and both times the experience was excellent—the attitude, the work, everything. After a seamless AC unit maintenance (kudos to Cesarin!), I scheduled water heater maintenance (long overdue but that’s on me). Angel and his assistant not only completed everything thoroughly but also took the time to explain what they were doing and why—very patient with my many questions! They even offered helpful advice on other plumbing issues (who knew it’s important to keep rarely used drains in service?) and adjusted our home’s water pressure to the proper level. I’m definitely a happy customer, and when something needs fixing—plumbing or electrical—First Choice truly is my first choice. (Adding a not so pretty picture of what came out of the heater. Gotta flush that thing regularly!)

The good part: Someone answered my call, scheduled my appointment, and the technician was on time and extremely friendly. The bad part: The bill was $700. It literally took no more than 15 minutes to change out the tank. There wasn’t any soldering or copper pipe needed. Maybe just a little bit of Plumber’s tape. If the tank costed $100, that still put labor at over $500 an hour. I had been considering replacing the entire unit, which I was told would cost $3,000. It’s a 50-gallon gas water heater—nothing special. At the time, I had a flooded basement and had to shut off the water to the entire house. So, I was basically stranded on a dark highway with a flat tire and out of gas. I could have paid the $89 service fee and said no, but that would have meant another day without water. I understand that nothing is done for free, but I feel I was totally ripped off. To top it off, I had to dispose of the old tank myself because the technician forgot it. To sum it up: Friendly service, but way overpriced.

With our a/c suddenly down and a 91 degree day forecast, I called First Choice HVAC who we have a service contract with and who installed our system. They assigned our Tech, Angel Garcia to come out that same morning. Wonderful! Angel arrived as scheduled and immediately diagnosed the issue. He called into the office for parts, and later that afternoon, after 5pm, returned with the parts to install and make sure our a/c system was once again working perfectly. Angel is very thorough, knowledgeable, and personable. Wonderful again! Thank you to First Choice HVAC for providing first rate customer service.

Bill did a very thorough job coming out to assess our house for a new hvac unit. He was knowledgeable and professional. We decided to keep our unit for a while longer, so did not end up using their services, but the experience was a good one and we were able to get a good understanding of what eventually needs to be done

Angel Garcia is the best!!! First Choice has just been great about upgrading my systems. They are neat and their work is impeccable and very pretty. I have used them since 1987 and have no complaints. Angel has been wonderful about making sure we have what we need. He feels like my personal consultant, but all the folks there are so helpful and responsive. Highly highly recommend them.
